Tchaikovsky-Stolze-Cranko’s ONEGIN can be found in the repertoire of the majority of the greatest ballet companies (Met, Covent Garden, Americal Ballet Theatre, Ballet of Opéra de Paris.) This classical evergreen returns to the Budapest stage after ten years in a completely renewed form, with Thomas Mika’s new stage design, Steen Bjarke’s lighting and Thomas Mika and Maren Fischer’s costumes. The Hungarian National Ballet has the privilege to use the new stage and costume design among the first companies around the globe. ONEGIN, this compelling tale of the history’s greatest double unrequited love is presented in Budapest by an outstanding cast. Aliya Tanykpayeva (formally principal dancer at the Imperial Russian Ballet and the Vienna State Opera), the new member of the Hungarian National Ballet from September 2012 dances the role of Tatiana with Zoltan Olah, principal soloist and Étoile of the Hungarian company in the role of Onegin. According to the Acting Ballet Director, Tamas Solymosi (having danced the role of Onegin several times in Amsterdam, Helsinki, Vienna and Budapest) with a world-renowed superstar like Tankypayeva the production will be a real stage „masterpiece” by international standards as well.
