He was born in Szeged, into a musical family. He studied at the University of Szeged and graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. His teachers included István Andrejcsik, Éva Marton, Balázs Kovalik, László Polgár, Johannes von Duisburg. In 1998 he made his debut as an oratory soloist in J. S. Bachs Johannes Passion, since then he has built a wide repertoire ranging from early baroque compositions to contemporary music. He has worked with such renowed artists as Pierre Cao, Helmuth Rilling, Peter Schreier, Tibor Bogányi, Zsolt Hamar, Zoltán Kocsis, Ádám Fischer, Zoltán Peskó, György Vashegyi and Tamás Vásáry. Krisztian Cser has performed in concert halls around the world as well as in Hungary. In 2004 he won first prize at the 4th József Simándy Singing Competition. In 2008 he became a finalist at the Monserrat Caballé International Singing Competition and the following year he won a special prize at the Geneva International Music Competition. In 2007 he won the Annie Fischer Scholarship. In 2010 he gained the March Youth Award issued by the Hungarian Government and the following year he won the Richard Wagner Society Scholarship. As an opera singer he made his debut in Spoleto, Italy in 2008 as Don Magnifico (G. Rossini: La Cenerentola), a role that he also performed on a Japanese tour. From 2008 to 2010 he was a scholarship holder at the Hungarian State Opera where has has been a regular guest singer ever since. His repertoire includes Bluebeard (B. Bartók: Bluebeards Castle); King Pomádé (Gy. Ránki: The Kings New Clothes); Colline (G. Puccini: La Bohème), Enrico (G. Donizetti: Anna Bolena); Don Fernando (L. Beethoven: Fidelio). In March 2013 Krisztian Cser debuted as Leporello in Mozart's Don Giovanni in Budapest with a huge success. His further engagements include the role of Truffaldin in the upcoming premiere of the Hungarian State Opera: Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos.
