Manuela Uhl sings the title role of Salome at the Strauss150 Festival on 29 May and 1 June. Originally, this role was to be sung by Nadja Michael. Due to illness she had to cancel her appearance at the Strauss150 Festival. Another internationally acclaimed soprano was invited to take her role.
Manuela Uhl studied in: Salzburg, Zurich and Freiburg. She started her career at Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and at the Bühnen der Landeshauptstadt in Kiel where she had already sung important leading roles. As a concert singer she has performed: Mahler’s Fourth and Eighth Symphonies, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Debussy’s “La Démoiselle Elue” in: Tokyo, Munich, Baden-Baden, Rome, Los Angeles, Caracas, Dresden, Vienna, Madrid, and Cagliari with conductors such as: Christan Thielemann, Antonio Pappano, Jonathan Nott, or Gustavo Dudamel. She recorded Schönberg’s “Lieder Opus 8″ with the Beethoven Orchester Bonn conducted by Stefan Blunier. And a recording of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony under Jonathan Nott will be issued soon. There are several CD and DVD recordings in which Manuela Uhl sings the leading female role.
