After her years at the Bányai Júlia Music Primary School, Mariann Bódi continued her studies at the Zoltán Kodály High School of Music in Debrecen. She then earned degrees in voice pedagogy at the Debrecen campus of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music's Teacher Training Institute (in 1986) and in voice and voice pedagogy at the Debrecen Conservatory of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. She sang in the Debrecen Kodály Chorus and appeared at the city's Csokonai National Theatre, as well as at the Hungarian State Opera House and other venues. She has received many awards and recognitions over the course of her career, including the Singer of the Year Award (1993), the Vilmos Rubányi Award (in both 1997 and 2003), the Csokonai Award (2002) and many awards of excellence. Her broad repertoire includes major roles from Verdi (Eboli in Don Carlos, Flora in La traviata, Meg Page in Falstaff, Emilia in Otello and Fenena in Nabucco) and Mozart (Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and the ladies in Die Zauberflöte), as well as Bizet (the title role of Carmen), Mussorgsky (Marina in Boris Godunov), Puccini (Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and Musetta in La bohème), Tchaikovsky (Olga in Eugene Onegin), Donizetti (Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor), Purcell (Dido in Dido and Aeneas) and Wagner (Ortrud in Lohengrin). Her repertoire also comprises numerous oratorios, cantatas and masses, as well as works by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Handel, Rossini, Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Franck, Mozart,Verdi, Bartók, Kodály, Liszt and others.
