Gabriel Dobner studied at Roosevelt University's Chicago Musical College in Illinois before going on to earn his doctorate at Indiana University Bloomington. He made his first European concert appearance in 1991. In 1993 he was awarded a scholarship through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and in 1994 won the special prize for accompanying pianists at the International Hans Pfitzner Lieder Competition in Munich.
His many collaborations with noted singers and instrumentalists have led to successful performances at a number of major concert venues throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
His present and previous teaching engagements include contracts with James Madison University, Indiana University and the Nürnberg/Augsburg Hochschule für Musik in Germany.
He has made recordings for both the Ottavo and MDG labels. His first recording in collaboration with acclaimed tenor Gerhard Siegel will be released in the fall of 2015 by Haenssler Classic Profil.
He has also performed in radio broadcasts for Saint Paul Sunday and the Chubo-Nippon Broadcasting Company in Japan, as well as for several German radio stations.
