Tamás Kóbor concluded his vocal studies at the Leó Weiner Conservatory under the tutelage of Éva Lax. His career then started in 1999 in the Hungarian Army Male Chorus. From 2002 until 2008 he was a member of the opera company of the National Theatre of Szeged, which coincided with his also being the scholarship winner at the Hungarian State Opera’s opera studio between 2002 and 2004, and later becoming a guest performer there. In 2004 he was awarded the Simándy Prize. He has made guest appearances on several occasions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and has also taken the stage in both England and Slovakia. His principal roles include Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Onegin, Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Gabriele in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Ismael in Verdi’s Nabucco.
