Contemporary Opera Showcase

The Opera’s obligation and tradition, as laid down in its deed of foundation, is to commission and perform new Hungarian works. The aim of the Contemporary Opera Showcase initiative is to provide a glimpse into fresh Hungarian works recently commissioned. As far as possible, the Opera wishes to ensure that new creations reach as wide an audience as possible, both in the profession and among opera-loving audiences. This time around, the winners of the Röpopera tender (see page 312), held in autumn 2021 for invited participants, will be given a chance to introduce themselves. Excerpts from the productions will be performed in dramatic format with piano accompaniment and the singing students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
