Changes in the 2022/23 season plan

As part of the Hungarian government’s comprehensive economic measures in relation to the war in Ukraine, the ministry maintaining the Hungarian State Opera gave notice of the reduction of 600 million HUF from the theatre’s annual budget. As a result of previous and further expected measures for savings, OPERA expects a total budget reduction of 1 billion HUF for the year 2022 and 500 million HUF for the year 2023. The recent increase in utility costs and vulnerability to currency exchange rates have placed additional burden on our theatre.

Opera for everyone

The OPERA sympathizes with the plight of pensioners and students, as well as the employees of public institutions, who are subject to lower salaries compared to the private sector. The following discounted ticket purchase options are available for them:

     - public general rehearsals for members of various occupational groups;
     - discounted gallery ticket sales for all performances;
     - standing room available on the day of the performance at a favorable price;
     - at matinees, very favorable seat prices for the entire hall
