The relationship drama of Armida, set during the crusades and depicting the story of a breakup, is presented in a modern context by emerging artists from the Éva Marton International Opera Studio and San Diego’s Opera Neo on 21 June 2025, at the Eiffel Art Studios. The contemporary production, which will also presented in the United States a month later, is directed by András Almási-Tóth, and the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra is conducted by Péter Kozma
On 15 June 2025, during the curtain call following a performance of La Bayadère, the principal of the Hungarian National Ballet was surprised with the announcement that she would be the recipients of the greatest honour of the ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera for the next season. She was presented with a swan-shaped award made by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory by ballet director Tamás Solymosi, amidst the celebration of her colleagues and the audience.
By reconstructing the closing scene that vanished from ballet tradition nearly a century ago, the ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera will premiere La Bayadère, one of the most successful collaborations between choreographer Marius Petipa and composer Ludwig Minkus on 14 June 2025. As his choreographic debut, company ballet master Albert Mirzoyan created the ending of this spectacular gem of classical ballet, based on the original libretto.
