The OPERA Vault is not only a collection of physical relics but also an unimaginably vast and invaluable compilation of photographs and video recordings. A selection of old photographs can be browsed for free on the DigiTár (DigiTheca) platforms, while the latest performance images are shared on our social media pages, and new video content is available on the YouTube channel of the OPERA. However, many materials are not publicly accessible – yet the institution still offers opportunities to view them. The inner nave on the ground floor on Dalszínház Street serves as a unique chamber cinema. Here, visitors can watch educational films, revisit episodes of Opera Café, artists’ portraits, or even view recordings of performances that are available exclusively in the institutional archive. The cinema can accommodate an audience of 30, i.e. an entire class or group of visitors, on the old seats from the Opera Hpuse, which were originally designed as cinema seats anyway.
