Due to a 10-year contract concluded in 2009, the OPERA was not allowed to define its own way. However, the time came in the summer of 2019 when it was allowed to take control of the organisation and management of visits to the building, an expressly profitable business. The tours intend to provide a better experience, including a small concert with the participation of young opera singers on the landing of the grand staircase. Besides enjoying the little costumed opera scenes directed by András Almási-Tóth, curious visitors will be shown the most beautiful sides of the Opera House. Although reservations can be made for OperaTour visits, risk-takers and spur-of-the-moment type people can also try to join a group at the meeting point in the Opera House entrance hall. Tours are held in a variety of languages and leave at different time slots during the day.
Guaranteed tours:
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team.
Price: 10 500 HUF
Hungarian-language tours price: 5 800 HUF
Tours include a short concert at the end featuring the soloists of the OPERA. Photography for non-commercial purposes is allowed (flash photography and tripods are not permitted).
Groups are limited to maximum 30 visitors. The tour starts in the entrance hall at the information desk. Children under the age of 3 go free.
Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. In case a guided tour takes place at such a time, the route takes visitors to special, hitherto unseen areas. Guided tours are not available during performances.
Tickets are available one week in advance at the box offices or online.
Private tours:
Private tours can be ordered between 9:00 and 13:00 every day in case of at least 15 people paying. Alternatively, private tours with separate guides can take place at the time of guaranteed tours.
Foreign language private tours: 6 300 HUF / person (with concert), 4 600 HUF / person (without concert)
Hungarian private tours: 4 000 HUF / person (with concert), 3 500 HUF / person (without concert)
Concerts for private tours can also be provided on request: 45 000 HUF / concert
