Artists of the Opera Chorus and Orchestra dedicated the 1 March 2021 Terzet-Trio programme to Mozart and composers connected with him featuring popular pieces and rarities. The performance was streamed from 8:00 p.m. on Facebook and Origo.hu.
The Opera Chorus started the programme with an excerpt from Acis and Galatea by Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759) followed by songs by two Classicist composers who adored the Baroque master. The Flocks Shall Leave the Mountains by Händel, Ludwig van Beethoven's (1770–1827) Scottish-themed Lochnagar, set to a poem by Lord Byron, and the songs Grazie agl'inganni tuoi and Das Bandel by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) were performed by Györgyi Avvakumovits, Balázs Somogyi and Dávid Tarnai. In his time, the German composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809–1847) was likened to Mozart. His cycle Five Duets for Soprano and Alto were interpreted by Éva Dunai and Júlia Magassy. All songs were accompanied on the piano by Katalin Szirtes.
In a previous show, musicians of the Opera Orchestra had played a movement from String Sextet by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908). This time the Fifth Movement was performed by Tamás Bíró, Mónika Müller (violin), Zsófia Winkler, Mátyás Török (viola), Eszter Baráti and Ildikó Rönkös (cello). The Austrian composer Johannes Matthias Sperger (1750–1812) was probably the greatest double bass player in German-speaking lands, and he also left his mark on Hungary. His Quartet in D Major was performed by Zsófia Biró (flute), Veronika Botos (viola), Domonkos Nagy (cello) and Alajos H. Zováthi (double bass). The evening was rounded off by excerpt from Mozart's Don Giovanni in an adaptation for a string quartet by Joseph Küffner interpreted by Magdolna Závodszky (first violin), Patrícia Fahidi (second violin), Péter Kondor (viola) and Endre Balog (cello).
