Praised for his “burgeoning heroic timber”, Giorgi Sturua’s recent and upcoming engagements include debuts as The Prince Rusalka at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as Calaf Turandot at Hungarian State Opera, as Andrea Chénier with Ópera Nacional de Chile, return to Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Laca Klemeň Jenůfa, as Radamès Aida at Kraków Opera, as Pinkerton Madama Butterfly at Auditorio de Tenerife, Des Grieux Manon Lescaut in Klagenfurt, Samson Samson et Dalila, Alfredo La traviata, Don José Carmen and Malkhaz Daisi with the Georgian National Opera Theater, Carlo VII Giovanna d'Arco at the St. Galler Festspiele, Vassili Siberia at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, debuts as Ismaele Nabucco with Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn, Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, return as Don José Carmen and Cavaradossi Tosca with the Wrocław Opera, Don Juan The Stone Guest and Vladimir Igorevich Prince Igor at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Riccardo Un ballo in maschera, Canio Pagliacci at the Kutaisi State Opera, Sinodal The Demon at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Sturua’s past engagements of note include his appearances at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow as Don Juan in Dargomyzhsky's The Stone Guest and Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor, the roles of Riccardo Un Ballo in Maschera, Alfredo La Traviata, Turiddu Cavaleria Rusticana and Vaudemont Iolanta at the Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg. The tenor also performed Abesalom in Paliashvili’s Abesalom and Eteri at the Georgian National Opera in Tbilisi.

On the concert platform Sturua appeared In Nice, France in the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's Sadko, as Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria and as Sinodal in Rachmaninov's The Demon at the Queen Elizabeth Concert Hall in London.

Giorgi Sturua is a graduate of the Bolshoi Theater Moscow’s Young Artist Program, where he completed the training under the tutelage of Dmitry Vdovin. During his time in the Young Artists Program, Sturua took part in numerous performances and appeared in recitals with Liubov Orfenova, Semyon Skigin, and Giulio Zappa. He took part in masterclasses with Eva Marton, Alessandro Amoretti, Elizabeth Vidal, Makvala Kasrashvili, Paul Curran and Neil Shicoff.

Sturua began his musical education in his native Georgia at the Kutaisi High Music College. During his studies, Sturua was a soloist of the Balanchivadze Kutaisi State Opera appearing as Abesalom in Paliashvili’s Abesalom and Eteri and in Italian repertoire.
