The Budapest Studio Choir, Hungary's first project choir, was formed from amateur singers in 1966 under the leadership of Liszt Award-winning choirmaster Kálmán Strausz. In tandem with its efforts to retool its structure and overhaul its operations, the choir has been receiving more and more invitation from first-rate orchestras and renowned conductors. The ensemble currently provides a home base for 50 singers: half of them professionals, the rest amateurs. The exact composition and size of the choir always depends on the requirements of the project, the work to be performed.
