Zsuzsa Barabás was born in 1978 in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), where also she pursued her vocal studies, graduating from the city's Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music. She is currently a soloist with the Kolozsvár Hungarian Opera, where her principal roles include the First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Micäela (Carmen), Kate (Madama Butterfly), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Mimì (La bohème), Isolier (Le comte Ory), Leonora (Il trovatore), Rosina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Mariana (Das Liebesverbot).
She has also proved herself in the genres of singspiel and operetta, with her principal roles including Iluska (John the Valiant), Zsuzsi (Palko Csinom), Mary Lebstück (Lieutenant Mary), Mannia (Victoria and Her Hussar), Rolla (Miska the Magnate), Victoria (Prince Bob), Madeleine (Ball at the Savoy), Sylva (The Gypsy Princess), Mabel (The Circus Queen) and Zórika (Gypsy Love).
