Tamás Bátor earned his degree at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in 1986 after studying under Mrs Ferenc Révhegyi and Zsolt Bende. He then won a scholarship to study in Giulietta Simionato's course at Milan's La Scala from 1986 to 1988. He has been a soloist with the Hungarian State Opera since 1986. He has been featured on several of Hungaroton's opera recordings.
In recognition of his outstanding work, he was awarded the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit (civil division) in 2017.
