Gerhard Siegel was born in Upper Bavaria and studied trompet in Munich before he started a singer's education with Liselotte Becker-Egner in Augsburg, Bavaria. After his first engagement as chorister at the Augsburg Theatre he was obligated as a solist in Trier and Dessau. In 1995 he became lauriate of the 14. international Belvedere- Hans-Gabor singers competition. In 1998 Gerhard Siegel debuted with Venus and Adonis at the Staatsoper München and as Armoured in The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper Wien. Another deput followed in the next year: In Augsburg Gerhard Siegel's opera Germany - A winter fairy tale had its first performance. At the Opera in Nuremberg, the tenor belonged to since 1999 he sang the leading part in Wagner's opera Parsifal, Walther von Stolzing in The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, Tom Rakewell in Strawinsky's The Rake's Progress, Mephistopheles in Busoni's Doctor Faustus, Florestan in Fidelio, Herod in Salome, Octavio in Giuditta and Sergej in Mzensk's Lady Macbeth and Laca Klemen in Jenufa above all the leading part in Siegfried, Siegmund in The Valkyrie and Loge in The Rhinegold. For his next guestplays as Mime Siegel traveled to Tokyo (2001, 2003, 2006), Colonia (2002/2003), New York (2004), London (2005-2007) and Bayreuth (2006-2008) and as Siegmund and Siegfried to Beijing (2007). After the Captain in Wozzeck in Paris (2008) will follow debuts at the Theatre in Vienna, the Vienna Opera, the German Opera in Berlin (Traumgoerge) and guestplays in New York (Ring and Wozzeck), Madrid, Genf (Lulu), Barcelona, London (Salome) and Baden-Baden, Germany.
