He was born in Budapest in 1948. He started his music studies at the Children's Choir of the Hungarian Radio, where he also learned to play the violin for ten years. Later he studied privately with Margit Kaposy, who is still his voice mistress. He has been a soloist and one of the leading artists of the Hungarian State Opera House since January 1979. In this long period he has become an almost exclusive performer of the tenor roles of the whole Wagner oeuvre, but he also appears in Mozart and Verdi operas. Outside Hungary he has also appeared before concert and opera audiences in Brussels, Zurich, Bonn, Berlin, Bayreuth, London, Madrid, Prague and Moscow. He has sung under the baton of János Ferencsik, Antal Doráti, György Solti, Giuseppe Patané, Lamberto Gardelli, Nikolaus Harnoucourt and Yuri Simonov. Main roles: Florestan (Beethoven: Fidelio), Hermann (Tchaikovsky: The Queen of Spades), László Hunyadi, Bánk bán, Titus (Mozart: La clemenza di Tito), Tamino (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Radames, Don Carlo, Tannhäuser, Lohengrin, Siegmund, Siegfried, Tristan, Walter von Stolzing, Parsifal.
