Miklós Sebestyén was born in Budapest in 1979. After enjoying initial success at the Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, he got the chance to appear in major opera houses such as New York's Metropolitan Opera, Milan's La Scala, Cardiff's Welsh National Opera, Madrid's Teatro Real, Theater an der Wien, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Komische Oper in Berlin, Oper Leipzig and Staatstheater Nürnberg. He made his Hungarian State Opera House debut in 2011. His principal roles include Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Leporello, Masetto and the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Sarastro and the Speaker of the Temple (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Pizzarro (Fidelio), Ercole (Handel's Admeto), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Mustafà (L'italiana in Algeri), Mosè (Mosè in Egitto), Enrico VIII (Anna Bolena), Steffano Colonna (Wagner's Rienzi), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Colline and Schaunard (La bohème), Timur (Turandot), Ferrando (Il trovatore), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Banquo (Macbeth), Kothner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Tchelio (The Love for Three Oranges) and the Priest (Moses und Aron). Over the course of his career, he has worked with such conductors and directors as Fabio Luisi, Lorin Maazel, Adam Fischer, Riccardo Chailly, Carlo Rizzi, Ulf Schirmer, Robert Carsen, Kasper Holten, David Pountney, Philippe Arlaud, Giancarlo del Monaco and Peter Konwitschny.
