Ildi Tihanyi was a Scholarship of the Republic of Hungary student at the department of theatrical and visual design at Kaposvár University's Faculty of Arts. An Erasmus Scholarship then took her to Pozsony (Bratislava), where she studied under Jožef Ciller and Milan Čorba at the Academy of Performing Arts. She then continued her studies, this time in textile design, at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her first theatrical work was designing the sets for Róbert Alföldi's production of Erudite Associations at the Bárka Theatre. She has collaborated often with such directors as Róbert Alföldi, János Mohácsi, Péter Gothár and Máté Szabó. She received the Tivadar Márk Commemorative Plaque in 2022.
