The Hungarian State Opera is accepting applications until 17 April 2025, from vocal artists under the age of 33 holding a higher education degree and wish to participate in the professional training programme launched under the patronage and involvement of the world-renowned Hungarian soprano, a recipient of the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen and the title of Artist of the Nation.

Applications for the two-round audition can be submitted by completing the registration form available on the OPERA website. The submitted materials will be evaluated by a preliminary selection jury, and the results will be published by the institution on the Marton Éva International Opera Studio (MOST) website by 24 April. Applicants who advance based on the jury's decision will participate in an in-person audition on 29 April at the Eiffel Art Studios. Successful candidates will be notified in writing by OPERA by 15 May. Further details regarding the application process can be found on the OPERA website.

Drawing on numerous international examples and its own traditions, the Hungarian State Opera launched the first class of the Marton Éva International Opera Studio in September 2024. The programme aims to provide professional preparation for young opera singers following their university studies and to offer opportunities to gain stage experience in the early stages of their careers.

During the first semester of the four-term programme, Éva Marton, the studio's patron, along with other renowned vocal artists, will work with young singers, preparing them through masterclasses and individual coaching sessions for specific roles. Additionally, the curriculum includes role practice, stage practice, movement, opera and interpretation history, as well as language coaching.

Beyond the announced subjects, each semester features a masterclass. Young singers will also take part in the daily life of the opera house by performing in productions, covering selected roles, and stepping in when needed. At the end of the academic year, they will showcase their artistic skills in a final performance. This year's inaugural class will present Haydn’s Armida in a joint production with singers from San Diego’s Opera Neo, performing both in Budapest and the United States.
