On 2 June, 2016, Bryn Terfel's debut at the Opera House will mark the closing of the Shakespeare400+ Festival.

One of the most sought-after performers in international opera life, Bryn Terfel is a welcome guest on the stage of every major opera house and concert hall in the world.

Audiences and critics first took note of the Welsh bass-baritone as Figaro and Falstaff, and in recent years he has stood out in Wagnerian roles, winning undivided acclaim in the title role of Der fliegende Holländer, along with singing Wotan and Hans Sachs. His repertoire extends past the boundaries of the classical genre to include débuts in musicals, playing Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and the leading role in Sweeney Todd.

The porgramme of his first appearance at the Hungarian State Opera includes pieces by Rossini, Donizetti, Boito, Gounod and Wagner as well as excerpts from Verdi operas inspired by Shakespeare.
