On 11 April 2016, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra performs a special concert in the memory of Miklós Ybl, the extraordinary architect who designed the Opera House.

Miklós Ybl, the brilliant designer of the Opera House building, was born in 1814. On his 202st birthday, we continue the tradition started previously by celebrating with a concert attended by an audience of engineers and architects. This year will not be any different: we will be celebrating Ybl with the music of his great contemporary, Gustav Mahler. Several days before the concert, the Ybl Prizes, the highest accolades in Hungarian architecture, will be presented. Befor the concert, representatives of both the Opera and the Ybl Society will lay a wreath at the memorial tablet to mark this anniversary.
