Simándy József Competition nr. 12

Since the first edition of the Simándy Competition in 1998, we have discovered and launched numerous singers onto the opera stage who have become outstanding personalities and young stars in the national and international opera and concert scene. Many of them are recipients of the Liszt Prize, the Prima Primissima Award, and have been honoured with the title Chamber Singer of the Hungarian State Opera.

This year marks the 12th opening of our competition's doors and also celebrates its 25th Jubilee. In an unconventional move, we have relocated the contest from Szeged to Budapest, with the OPERA Eiffel Art Studio providing a new venue for us.
The final of the competition also serves as the gala concert, preceded by a series of preliminary and semi-final rounds spanning an entire week.

The jury members, outstanding professionals from the Hungarian and international music scene, are as follows:
Prof. Dr. Mária Temesi - Liszt Prize-winning opera singer, vocal coach, Knight of Hungarian Culture, founder and leader of the ‘HAZÁM, HAZÁM TE MINDENEM´ Arts and Education Foundation, Founder of the József Simándy International Singing Competition.
Dr. Szilveszter Ókovács - General Director of the Hungarian State Opera
Prof. Atilla Kiss-B. - Member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, Kossuth and Liszt Ferenc, Prize-winning opera singer, professor at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, university teacher at the, Franz Liszt Academy of Music, General Director of the Budapest Operetta Theatre
Tamás Bátor - Opera singer, artistic chief advisor at MUPA, artistic advisor at the Hungarian State Opera
Sándor Gyüdi - Liszt Prize-winning conductor, director of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra, chief conductor of the Vaszy Viktor Choir
Prof. Mr. Tamara Markovic - Opera singer, vocal coach,  artistic advisor at the Kolarac Foundation Concert Hall in Belgrade, Serbia.
