While earning his degree in German studies, Uzbek baritone Alik Abdukayumov was also enrolled at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and later at the the Tashkent State Music Academy. He has taken first or second place at more than ten singing competitions, and has also won numerous special prizes. He made his debut at age 26 as the Marquis of Posa in Don Carlos at a festival in Chiemgau. Between 2007 and 2010 he was a member of Landestheater Linz.
His principal roles include Eugene Onegin, Lescaut (in Massenet's Manon), Leporello, Sharpless, the Police Chief in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Giorgio Germont and Renato.
He has also appeared as a guest at the opera houses of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. Since 2010, he has been a member of Oper Graz, where he made his debut as Kothner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and later sang the title role Le nozze di Figaro. In the 2010/11 season, he sang the roles of Leporello in Graz, Escamillo in Carmen and Marcel in Il tabarro at the Wiener Volksoper. He has performed in concerts in France and Russia, as well as alongside Elena Obraztsova in Tokyo. He made his Hungarian State Opera debut in December 2010 as Marcello in La bohème.
