Ákos Bánki was born in Kazincbarcika in 1982 and studied drawing in Miskolc. In 2000, he enrolled in the painting programme at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, graduating in 2006. He also studied in London and Barcelona on an Erasmus Scholarship. He received the Barcsay Award in 2011 and both the Mazsaroff and Műút (Artway) Awards in 2012. He has held numerous solo exhibitions since 2003 in Budapest, Miskolc, Szentendre and Veszprém, and has also participated in joint shows in Budapest, Tihany, Győr, Pécs, Miskolc, Salgótarja and Kazincbarcika, as well as in Újvidék (Novi Sad) and Belgrade. His works can be seen in the European Parliament building in Brussels and at the Miskolc Gallery. He has worked several times with Andrea Ladányi, both as a performer and as a visual designer. His design work has appeared at the Móricz Zsigmond Theatre in Nyíregyháza, the Ioan Slavici Classical Theater in Arad, the National Theatre of Szeged and at the Merlin Theatre in Budapest.
