István Bocskai was born in Szeged in 1986 and studied cello at the Simonffy Emil Music School before joining the choir of Dóczy Gedeon Reformed High School and singing in the Debrecen Reformed College Cantus. He then went on to pursue vocal training and studies in folk music for a year and a half in the bachelor's voice and music programme at the College of Nyíregyháza. In addition to his music studies, he also served as a dancer and teacher of folk dance with the Hajdú Dance Ensemble of Debrecen. In 2012, he joined the chorus of Debrecen's Csokonai Theatre, switching in 2014 to the National Theatre of Szeged's chorus, where he remains today. His roles to date include Cascada/Rosillon de Camille (The Merry Widow), King Bitter Goathair (Secret Stars), Rudolf Löttinger (It Happened in Vienna), Saville (The Count of Luxembourg), Blueberry/Shoo (Prince Árgyélus) and the Country Judge (Sly).
