Tenor singer AndrásFarkas was born in the city of Ajka in 1991. Thanks to his exceptional coloratura skills, he regularly performs oratorios in addition to operas, primarily Bach cantatas and oratorios. He studied under the tenor Boldizsár Keönch between 2012 and 2013. Andrásgraduated as a classical singer in 2017 (BA) and obtained his master’s degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music’s oratorio and lied singing major (MA) in 2019 as a student of the Franz Liszt Award-winning Hungarian opera singer and Artist of Merit and Excellence Ingrid Kertesi.
During his studiesat the Academy of Music, he regularly performed in the joint productions of the University and the Opera. In 2016, he performed in Benjamin Britten’s opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream as directed byMáté Szabó and in Paul Hindemith’s opera The Long Christmas Dinner,performed in 2018 at the German Late Night event organised in the Kiscelli Museum. In 2019, he performed in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro operacrossover, directed by Orsolya Magyar, on a number of occasions. András participated in the Hungarian premiere of Julian Philips’s chamber opera TheYellow Sofa organised as part of the Café Budapest Contemporary ArtFestival in November 2020, which was directed at the Academy of Music by András Almási-Tóth. He debuted at the Hungarian State Opera in Levente Gyöngyösi’s opera-musical The Master and Margarita, performed in theMiklós Bánffy Room at Eiffel Art Studios.
Besides operas, heregularly sings tenor solos in oratorios and masses in Matthias Church and the Lutheran Church on Deák Square. He has performed in Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Italy.
