The baritone Giuseppe Altomare took a degree in political sciences before embarking on vocal training at the Salzburg Mozarteum and in Italy. He made his début as Gianni Schicchi at the 39th Torre del Lago Festival, followed by appearances in operas including Nabucco, La traviata, Il trovatore, La bohéme, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Un ballo in maschera and Pagliacci in leading Italian theatres and opera houses abroad (Ferrara, Ravenna, Cagliari, Baltimore, Parma, Palermo, Genova, Pittsburgh, Florence, Venice and Moscow). He appeared with Katia Ricciarelli in Lecce in Werther, at the Florence Teatro Comunale in Otello, at La Scala in Dialogues des Carmélites, in Bacalov’s Estaba la Madre at the Rome Teatro dell’Opera and in Korea in Rigoletto. He has collaborated with leading conductors and enjoys a successful and busy concert career. In the past seasons he has sung Giorgio Germont (La traviata), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Graf Danilo (Die lustige Witwe), the title roles of Macbeth, Rigoletto and Nabucco, Amonasro (Aida), Scarpia (Tosca).
