Born in the Vojvodinian city of Zenta (Senta) in 1984, Éva Kovács earned degree in voice and voice pedagogy from the University of Szeged's Faculty of Music in 2010, after studying under István Andrejcsik. She has taken part in master classes held by Timothy Bentch, Éva Marton, Sylvia Sass, Magda Nádor, Ionel Pantea, Tünde Szabóki, Rosemary Hardy and Krisztina Laki, among others. She made her debut at the National Theatre of Szeged the following year, portraying Samaritana in Francesca da Rimini. Her principal roles include Cio-Cio san (Madama Butterfly), Gilda (Rigoletto), Antonia (Les contes d'Hoffmann) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). She sang Cio-Cio san at the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen in 2014, and Gilda at the National Theatre of Miskolc in 2015, as well as in 2014 at the National Theatre of Győr, where she also sang Papagena in 2015 and Marie Louise (in Háry János) in 2016. She took first prize at the International Nikola Cvejić Singing Competition in 2005, and won the Solti Foundation's scholarship in 2012. Another first prize came in 2016, with a victory at the International József Simándy Singing Competition. In 2013, the Szeged Society of Friends of the Opera named her the young artist of the season. She is a two-time winner of the Dömötör Award.
