Kurt Mitterfelner, was born in Germany in 2004 in a Russian-Austrian family. He currently lives in Switzerland in Morges. At the age of 6 he started to play violin and piano but was especially fond of the violin.
At the age of ten he started studying with Julien Zufferey at the Lausanne Conservatory, this is also when he started studying with Svetlana Makarova and Pavel Vernikov, he later continued with Zakhar Bron at the Zakhar Bron academy in Interlaken.
He participated in many masterclasses with renowned professors for example Oleg Kaskiv, Andrei Volochin, Guillaume Chilemne etc.
During this time, Kurt received the first prize at the Swiss competition for young musicians in 2016 and 2018. He also received the same prize at the Salieri competition in 2017. In 2019 he came to the semifinals in the Wieniawski-Lipinski competition Lublin.
Since 2019 Kurt studies exclusively with Renaud Capuçon and François Sochard at the HEMU in Lausanne. Since 2016 Kurt plays a 1775 Tomasso Balestrieri and a bow by Dominique Peccatte generously given to him by an anonymous sponsor.
