Born in the United States, Laure Meloy studied voice at Central Michigan University (Bachelor of Music cum laude), the University of Minnesota (Master of Music), and Manhattan School of Music. She recently covered Ariel (Adès: The Tempest) for the Wiener Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera of New York, Hecuba (Tippett: King Priam) in English Touring Opera's Olivier Award winning season of 20th c. British opera (Outstanding Achievement in Opera). Other recent engagements include a concert with Thomas Adés based on The Tempest, and Fiordiligi for Swansea City Opera. She made her Royal Opera Covent Garden debut as Queen of Night (The Magic Flute), and covered Ariel (The Tempest) and Marie (Fille du Regiment) for the company. For English National Opera she covered the title roles in Lulu and Madame Mao (Nixon in China) and made her debut there as Queen of Night, a role she has also sung with Opera North, Welsh National Opera and English Touring Opera. Other roles include Lucia, Adina, Norina, Zerbinetta, Marquise de Cathe (Verdi: Un Giorno di Regno), and Constanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). She has made a specialty of singing challenging 20th and 21st century repertoire, with roles such as Berg's Lulu, Henze's Hilda Mack (Elegy for Young lovers) and Ligeti's Venus/Geppo (Le Grand Macabre). Concert appearances include Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony, Carmina Burana, Mozart Mass in C Minor (Canterbury Cathedral), Gounod St. Cecilia Mass, Rossini Stabat Mater, Poulenc Gloria (Minnesota Public Radio), Haydn Creation (Bronxnet Television). She has released two CDs of opera arias and duets.
