Erika Markovics commenced her vocal studies at the Bartók Conservatory with Olga Sík and continued them at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music with Edit Fábry. Since graduating from there with a degree in opera, she has been a soloist at the Hungarian State Opera. She has also completed a number of master classes, including ones held by Szilvia Geszthy, Eszter Réthy and Anna Reynold. She has performed concerts both in Hungary and abroad – including in Germany, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Slovakia, Austria and Japan. In 1987, she won a special prize at the Liszt Song Competition, and was awarded the Bartók-Pásztory Prize in 1992. She has performed the role of Gutrune (in Götterdämmerung) at the Wagner in Budapest Opera Festival regularly since 2008. She started teaching on an on-going basis in 1998, first at the Fót Music School, and between 2001 and 2013 at the Varga Tibor Institute of Musical Art at Győr's Széchenyi István University. Since 2013 she has served as voice coach at the Hungarian National Choir.
Her principal roles include the First Lady (The Magic Flute), Servilio (La clemenza di Tito), Frasquita (Carmen), the Young Girl (in Kodály's The Spinning Room), Marie Louise (in Háry János, by the same composer), Freia (Das Rheingold), Sieglinde (Die Walküre) and Gutrune (Götterdämmerung).
