He was born in Mohács in 1954. After his secondary school studies he sang in the Honvéd Male Choir for five years. He graduated as an opera singer and teacher of singing at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1986 as a student of József Simándy. Since then, he has been a soloist of the Hungarian State Opera House. His first role was Fiorello in the memorable 1986 revival of Il barbiere di Siviglia. He has sung over fifty roles. Besides a number of minor characters, his repertoire includes main roles such as Belcore (Donizetti: L'elisir d'amore), Papageno (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Figaro (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia, Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro), Beckmesser (Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). He has also taken part in premières of several Hungarian contemporary operas. The most significant roles of his are those of heroes of Hungarian operas and singspiele: János Háry, Bagó (János vitéz), Wealthy youth (Spinning Room).
