Gábor Szirtes graduated from the College of Theatre and Film Arts in 1980 and later signed with the National Theatre of Miskolc. His first role there was as Pali Csacsinszki in Ernő Szép's drama Purple Acacia. In the years to follow, he became the theatre's leading actor. He was a member of the company of the National Theatre from 1987 to 1993, before going on to work as a freelance actor. He has been a permanent guest artist at the National Theatre since 2003. He made his Opera House debut in 2001, in the role of Frosch in Die Fledermaus.
