Kornel Thomas is an award-winning conductor and composer. He won 2nd Prize at the 2022 Bartok World Composer Competition, 2nd Prize at the 5th Zodiac International Music Composer Competition, two prizes at the 2020 MUPA Composer Competition, 2nd Prize at the 2018 Opera Nice Conducting Competition and 3rd Prize at the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conductors Competition. He is a recurring guest conductor with the Hungarian State Opera and Ballet, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, and Savaria Symphony Orchestra. Work with other professional ensembles include Argovia Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Győr Philharmonic, MAV Symphony Orchestra, Miskolc Symphony Orchestra, Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, and ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. He was assistant conductor of Savaria Symphony Orchestra from 2017-2020. He studied conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and composition at the St. Stephen King Conservatory Budapest.
