Born in Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe), Loránd Váta studied violin at the music high school in his native city before earning his degree in acting at the István Szentgyörgy Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1995. Well versed in numerous genres of dance, he has studied tap, jazz-funk, Afro-pop and butoh. He was a member of the company of the Tamási Áron Theatre in Sepsiszentgyörgy from 1995 until 2009, when he joined the Hungarian State Theatre of Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), his current company. Over the past few decades, he has won numerous awards and distinctions for his portrayals, including several acting awards from the Festival of Hungarian Theatres in the Neighbouring Countries in Kisvárda, as well as having his portrayals nominated for awards several times at the ATELIER International Theatre Festival in Sepsiszentgyörgy. He was presented with the Jászai Award in 2009.
