He was born in Budapest, where he started his singing studies in 1979. He joined the Pécs National Theatre in 1984 as a soloist, and became a soloist with the Hungarian State Opera House in 1987, where his first major role was the title role of Britten's Albert Herring. He has been successful in main roles of operas from various periods and of various styles both in Hungary and abroad. He has appeared as a guest singer on stages in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain and the United States. Main roles: Don José (Bizet: Carmen), Cavaradossi (Puccini: Tosca), Henri (Puccini: Il tabarro), Narraboth (R. Strauss: Salome), Aegistus (R. Strauss: Elektra), Alvaro (Verdi: La forza del destino), Otello, Erik (Wagner: Der fliegende Holländer).
