In Brief

No true opera fan or critic could possibly deny the fact that German-born René Pape is one of the leading bass singers in the world today. A multifaceted singer who is at home in various styles and languages, René Pape will be coming to his first concert in Hungary at the Hungarian State Opera at the zenith of his career. He selected the programme for his aria recital himself, but was glad to accommodate our request to include works related to Hungary for the final concert of HungarianFest.
The conductor for the evening is Jonas Alber, who has established himself as a sought-after conductor both on the concert podium and at leading international opera houses. He is particularly well known for benchmark performances of fin-de-siècle works, and his repertoire extends from the Baroque to contemporary music. Today he is much in demand as a guest conductor with symphony orchestras and opera companies in Europe, Asia, South America, New Zealand and South Africa.
